Neglected Wails

Neglected Wails

A Poem by Theo Ratcliffe

Wails of old wood,

creaking,

Rotting,

Falling apart.

The floor above creating tension,

Each step was taken with fear,

Suspense growing,

Collapsing;

Only moments away.

The basement door opened,

Room abandoned

Fog guiding the darkness,

Climbing the steps,

Full of neglect

Creaking beneath it.

From behind,

A creepy feeling passed over,

Accompanied with the eerie force to go down;

Cold breeze swept over,

Shivering;

Frigid air creating a breath,

That danced along numb skin;

Unfelt.
