No Longer

No Longer

A Poem by Theo Ratcliffe

He could no longer remembers us.

The disease locking away his memories.

He no longer remembers the stories he once told me.

The stories that made me smile.

The stories we all remember, all of us but him.

He was fading from this world, his soul leaving the earth forever.

The earth that holds his home,

His home filled with family.

The family that loves him,

The family that remembers his stories.

The stories that he no longer remembers.

The stories that made me smile,

The stories we all remember.

The stories that I tell for him.

I can feel the sadness in these words, and although a great poem I feel the complete simplicity, while great, it also minimizes the effect this could have.
Simple does work in the sense that he can't remember, so things are made simple with less detail and more fact, which this poem does portray very well. I just, personally, feel like something is missing in terms of vocab.
