Chapter 8 Pine Point Beach

Chapter 8 Pine Point Beach

A Chapter by Emily L

Pine Point Beach

The next morning the three awoke and set out for their next clue. Evelyn carried the magic dice in her dress pockets as they would soon be approaching the beach. An old worn down sign stood was hammered into the stone up against an empty cottage. "Pine Point Beach...this has to be it!" Jack exclaimed.  But there was no sign of a beach to be seen anywhere.

Evelyn peaked around the building expecting a blue ocean with golden sand. Nothing. "This just doesn't make any sense, the sign says Pine Point Beach, how can this be?" Jack opened the door to the home against Evelyn's wishes. "Jack be careful!" The two ladies crept behind Jack as they entered the abandoned home.

The inside of the home contained a fireplace, a table with a tea kettle but no tea, and a green upholstered chair. There was no source of light from the lack of windows. Just a plain cube brick house on the outside to some. Across the front door sat yet another doorway to the cellar most likely. Jack opened the cellar door to only find crashing waves banging up against the floor boards. "Look!" he yelled pointing at the rapid water.

As Evelyn gasped gassing at the obscene picture before her eyes, she hoisted up her dress to enter the water that collected up into the dark abyss of the cellar. All of a sudden an unexpected waves swept her off of her feet and pulled Evelyn under the chilling water.

"Evelyn grab my hand!"Jack howled. But it was too late she was gone under the water. "Come on let's go" the fairy said diving into the water lightening up the black water. Jack and the fairy plummeted under the water and let the current drag them through the darkness.

After what felt like hours, Jack and Fairy rose to the surface to find themselves bobbing in the dicey ocean water. "Evelyn!" the both of them shouted through the pounding rain and thunder. The waves carried the two to the sand. Evelyn was to be found drying herself off and squeezing the sopping water from her dress. "Oh Jack there you are, are you alright" she asked sloshing through the wet sand. "Yes yes, of course, we thought we lost you." he said trying to hide his tearful eyes.

Standing on the despicably dreary beach the three began to look for their third clue. "I don't think we'll find it in this open area, maybe we should enter the woods" insisted the fairy. Jack lead the way as they entered the woods seeking a bit of shelter from the storm. The sound of the bushes ahead began to sway and create a ruckus. The earth where they stood began to shake beneath their feet. Jack and Evelyn began to give each other a look when a repulsive 20 foot beast emerged from the sea. A pale gray monster, with a bare wrinkly body, producing tentacles from his mouth and built, his 4 red eyes locked with the kids and began to charge.

"Evelyn grab the dice and roll them in your hand!" Jack demanded and they ran deeper into the forest. Five...no...11...no, the beast ran faster bushing down innocent trees, 8...NO...the beast screamed! 12...NO HURRY!! A 10! The bartender appeared about five yards in the distance with a sword. "RUN!"he hollered. Just as they began to think they couldn't possibly run any longer, the rain filled up their eyes making the images blurry. The mysterious man was gone but the sword remained.

Jack picked it up from the ground as the girls ran into the cave. Right into the beast's side he plummeted the sharp silver sword. Taking on last bite out of Jack's arm it fell to the ground. The beast faded into nothingness and a third note was left in it's place. The two emerged from the cave. Jack arm began to bleed out profusely. "Let me find some leaves to wrap around the wound stop the bleeding" Evelyn said scurrying to find a bandage.

She banged up Jack's arm with wet leaves and kept it sturdy with a nearby stick. "You're good at that" said Jack admiring the bandage. I took care of my family almost my whole life, it's my motherly instinct" she said smiling back at him. "Look here" the fairy said picking the third note for the next clue for the next destination.
