News for the People

A Poem by Emily L

Another murder, robbery, rape, fight, fire, and attack
passes through our ears through the little lite up box
in the living-room
We become intrigued and engaged to these horrors
although we seem to hear them everyday over and over
6pm sharp, everyone shuts up and is ready for their story
Why as humans are we so drawn in to the terror of the world
We know as human beings that these crimes are heartless and cold
But still we anticipate for it
We wish to do something to help this tragedy
We complain, bicker and roll our eyes in disgust at the stories we are seeing
Turn off the TV and collect your thoughts have one more nasty comment and move on
We'll be back tomorrow though for another helping

News broadcasts are called Entertainment now... and is no worse (really) than what is found on web-based media as well.

People become emotionally numb and more accepting of unacceptable behaviors and THAT is whether OR NOT the truth (or even one-side of a truth) was shown.

you wellcome i just like how did you wrote
Such morality has been lost, philosophers have been forgotten in the moral rights of life, the beauty of life being stripped away for good by those who believe their hands have created life itself, it disgusts me. But here is a good description of those who have no shame, erasing names from the wall and throwing faces of mourn to the roaring wind! How the Heaven shakes against those who harm the world, plucking seeds from its heart to plant in a garden with no sunlight to let be dead

True! News has become old and repetitive. Finding something new in this world where history always repeats it self. Good things will always happen and that's the kind of News we want to see or hear. Thanks Emily! a very well thought poetry.

you are welcome!
I love your descriptives for the television at the beiginning - so simple, yet so cool.

Yes - it is a sorry state of affairs in which we live in. Perosnally the TV drives me mad anyway - there is so much sadness and madness on that little lite up box - I have turned it of....only really goes on for sports now.

Great pieces - sums up how many people feel about it, I am sure.

Mark.
