Labrador in the Window

Labrador in the Window

A Poem by Emily L

The large window with the indigo, radiant, natural light beaming
through revealing the inside of the living room that contained a bed
with a golden steel headboard and a light blue knitted quilt, and four
white pillows to match. A television, 70s  styled couch that matched with
the orange raggedy carpet.  To complete this scene was a Labrador.
The dog just sat propped up in the windowsill watching the Sunday afternoon
traffic pass by with care. The pup watched the world around him diligently
as if he was taking in every single thing that was occurring on this relaxed afternoon.
I wish I could see through this dogs eyes, what he was thinking, the sites he saw, the
things he took in from this. The dog was relaxed and at peace with not only himself but
the world around him, it was his duty to watch and observe the simple things that went
on in this masterpiece, that we humans simply call just another day in the year...

I loved the imagery and imagination in this poem. It almost has a child-like sense of wonder because of the way you describe the Labrador. I also liked this poems contrast between almost mundane images of the house and the beautiful descriptions of the day. The last line topped it all of. You did well with this poem. Great job.

The eyes of a dog are a portal to nothing but acceptance in life. Dogs are obedient and play full always happy and wagging their tail, animals are so careless. The world of a dog, a place id love to explore

They have a very strong sense of smell. They're taking in a lot of things when their head is out the window of a car. I wish I knew what they were thinking to.
