Two Pillows

Two Pillows

A Poem by awkward turtle
"

Derived from a personal experience in dating someone who was in the military. Imagined scenario.

"

These days the apartment feels

Less like ours

More like a place

In which I don't belong

Our shoes are piled by the door

His feet haven't

Filled those boots for months

"I'lll be back before you know it"

His uniform hides

In a garmet bag

In the bedroom closet

The day they told me

You were dead

They dropped your dogtags in my palm

Like in the movies

I couldn't cry

I still keep two pillows on the bed

This was...Ugh I don't even know what to say because anything I would say doesn't even fall close to what I'm feeling. It's better than great. "I liked it," would be an understatment. :)

This is such a emotional, moving write... glimpses of a life together... now forever changed... What powerful words that touched me deeply.
