Rope Swing

Rope Swing

A Poem by awkward turtle
"

I took a creative writing class this semester; this was one of the assignments.

"

I’m terrified

Of heights

So that’s why I’m standing

On a tree trunk

On the riverbed

My sweaty palms

clutching the rope swing

So hard my knuckles are white

My feet are numb

Toes curled on the edge of the bark

Legs heavy like lead

Below, the water swirls

I breathe deep

                And jump

Very nice. Letting go is a beautiful thing and living fearless is even more special. :)

Simple, yet beautiful. And I love the way the final line of the poem is positioned. Very stylistic and very powerful way to end an excellent piece of writing.
