You

You

A Poem by Duckey
"

A little love poem

"
Like one million fireflies
You broke through the dark
Scattering the stars and the moon
And the sun
None of those things could compare
To your light
You shine like no other i have ever seen
You are more wonderful
Than the words spilling from this pen could ever be
There is one vivid night I remember
It was late
We should have been asleep by now
But we were not
You looked beautiful
Your hair was messy
Your eyes were tired
And your jumper hung loose around your shoulders
You cradled your guitar in your arms
Your legs folded beneath you
As you strummed absently
I looked at you and i knew
I loved you
I loved you more than i loved myself
I loved you more than i had ever loved anything
But you did not look back at me the same way
Perhaps you don't realize
But you saved me
Truly saved me
Saved me from the shattered chandeliers
In back alleyways
And having to live with
Words rolling off my tongue
Like cigarettes
Burning
Dimly in the moonlight
Burning like it only has
A few seconds
Left to burn
