Where you stand

Where you stand

A Poem by Duckey

I see you standing where i stood
treading the ground i already trod
Singing the words I've already sung
Holding the hands I've already held
I see you smiling the smile that i use to smile
Wishing the words I've already spoke
Kissing the lips I've already kissed
Being the person i already was
I see the happiness in your eyes
They light up at the sight of her
And i know in that moment
You've taken my place
But you are more worthy
Your smile is more honest
And unlike me
You can promise her forever
I could promise her a day
A day at a time
Nothing more
Nothing less
She told me
She was sick of fearing tomorrow
Of loving the sunrise
And hating the sunsets
She said she could not stand
With me any longer
She could not see
The sights that i saw
She could not feel
The things that i felt
She could not look into the eyes
I see every morning in the mirror
