It's more than what meets the eye

It's more than what meets the eye

A Poem by Duckey
"

WARNING This may be confronting for some

"
It does not go unnoticed
It looks like drawings
But the kind of drawings
You do at 3am
When you're alone
With tears running down your cheeks
And your hands are shaking

It looks like a flower picked
Many lovers ago
Wilted and dying
It's once vibrant petals
Turning dull shades of brown

It looks like the moon
And the stars
Have all disappeared from your eyes
And were put back in the sky

It smells like rust and salt
A smell so overwhelming
When you realize

It tastes like tears
And hours of lies
Spilling off the end
Of you godforsaken tongue
Like cigarettes to addicts
In alleyways

It sounds like a laugh
That's just a little too loud
Or a voice
That's a little too happy
Like a voice
Full of waiting
Full of wishing

But my darling believe me
when i tell you
It feels like nothing at all
