Dreams of Peace

Dreams of Peace

A Poem by Emily
"

I have had multiple friends tell me that theyve been thinking about suicide lately and this poem was inspired by what they've told me as well as other factors.

"

Suicidal thoughts,

Eating at the soul.

Is there anything

that can make these people whole?

Happiness has faded,

Despair has set in.

No matter how hard they try

they never seem to win.

Some will disappear.

They'll just fade away.

Even if you wished

that they could have stayed.

Mourn those who have left.

Rejoice with those who remain here.

Because in both cases,

They have little left to fear.

Pray that they are happy.

Pray their pain has ceased.

Because all they were looking for

Was just a little peace.

Suicide is a big problem within the military right now, especially among those of us who are deployed. Peace is that elusive shadow at midnight that evades many of us. I found your poem very refreshing, and the wording allowed me to keep a good rhythm while reading. It was very descriptive of feeling and emotionally charged. I felt as if I were talking to one of your friends face to face.

Expressed your experience and feeling frankly.
You are still young and you can help the persons who seriously think of suicide.
Your college and concerned agencies should provide you support in thisd noble work.
Amazing poem.

Suicide leave a lot of sad people. I try to stop my brother's road to so-call peace. They left babies without a father and a family confused. I do pray for them. A very good poem. Many people are born with less strength to face this world. They will need more open doors and kind people. I learn that too late. A powerful poem. You open many questions.

This was fabulous, the rhyme and rhythm and all that kind of stuff that make a good poem was absolutely perfect in this piece. Sad in some ways but in a strange way very hopeful also.
