The Definition of Beauty....

The Definition of Beauty....

A Poem by Emily

The definition of beauty

changes with the passage of years.

So theres no reason to waste your tears,

On something so fleeting

That it truely has no meaning.

This year thin may be in.

But next year that could change.

But still people make themselves deranged,

Trying to fit the mold.

Striving to fit in.

But what they dont realize

is that they can never win.

Against an everchanging standard.

But still theyll try so hard

to change themselves for someone else,

Instead of trying to find people

who love them for themselves,

and find them beautiful the way they are.

Very true :) I mean, look at the models of the 1950's (I guess) They were as curvy as can be. there is no way any of them could get work as a model today. But I would much rather see them in a magazine than the girls today.

Great poem, awesome statement! :)

This is so true! The people out there who are constantly changing to fit in don't get it. If you're constantly changing how can you be yourself? You're just another clone. I could relate to this very well. Great write!

That's very truthful. The definition of beauty has changed dramatically over the past decade, a little over the year. There's a few grammar and spelling mistakes, but it's not so bad you can't read it. But besides that, I like this poem.

Very nice. I'm quite surprised there have only been four reviews, as there is a very good message in this poem.

The idea of "trying to find peope who love them for themselves" is something I firmly believe in, as looks fade with age, just as the standards of society change over time. While physical attraction is important, it is the inner beauty which means the most, and which lasts throughout the years. I'm relying on someone liking me for my personality and intellect :)

Yeah, this is how beauty's revered. Did you know that Twiggy, the famous fashion model hated her body, and constantly ate? Yet so many girls became anorexic to be like her

Perfect. It has message and tone. Nicely done

Beauty can be many things. My Grandmother old face was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. I wish to see her face today. Wisdom in your words. Beauty is below the skin. True wealth and beauty will have many people around when they are old and gray. Because they share their life. A excellent poem.
