The Path Less traveled

The Path Less traveled

A Poem by Emily
"

For Christian. I miss you "

The memory of a smile;

the ghost of a touch;

the echo of laughter;

Its all we have left.

Because you have moved on.

You took the path less traveled.

As you always have.

You disappeared from sight.

Just like you always did.

But this time you did not reappear.

This time you took a way that we couldnt follow.

That final path that no one travels twice.

You did it quietly.

There was no goodbye.

You were just gone from our path.

I wish I knew why.

I wonder what happened that night.

I wonder why you decided to leave.

Perhaps I will know someday

When I take that final path too.

And maybe

Just maybe

the person who will guide me along that path will be you.

Rest in Peace, My friend. Much love <3

This is a great tribute to your friend. It shows your readers that Christian was an adventurous person with a bold spirit. I think that remembering someone in this way, especially in poetry, helps to preserve a part of them forever.

I'm not sure that lose at any age is easy, not if we live with an open heart. The difference between experiencing a death at a young age and an older age comes in our view of the world. I think when we are young, we do not have a full sense of our mortality. Time stretches before us. We can do anything. Losing a person who has all of those things ahead of them is crushing. I learned this at a young age when my uncle, who was only 24 and soon to be married, died suddenly.

The losses you have suffered sound a bit like my own. I send my best wishes to you, and I hope that all of those people you have lost rest with love, peace, and light.

When I take that final path...
Well penned.

It is difficult to lose someone, and when you're young and not accustomed to such things, even more so. Your words exemplify that pain.

That's how life goes, I'm afraid. We can celebrate their lives and keep them in rememberance.
