Afar

Afar

A Poem by MLE

Upon a lonely perch she sat

And stared into the sea

She envied each and every wave

That rolled in at her feet.

Her skin was rough and body numb

Her mind had since gone blank.

She had waited oh so patiently

For normality to be back

He sat and watched each pixel

Dance across the screen

Her smile seemed oh so different

When it wasn’t fresh and clean

A couple hundred miles away

his voice was carried through

But something seemed a little off

About the way she said “I love you”

The age had crept up on him

As he rocked back on his porch

The years had passed on by him

without a loving touch

No wife, no kids, no siblings,

Alone in this world,

Trapped inside his own four walls,

He had answered the angels call

So we sit and stare at nothing,

The days just ticking by

While others suit and gown up

And some try not to cry.

Its okay to feel your feelings

No matter what they are,

Be scared, be happy, be hopeful,

cause positivity will get us far

Feel the way you do

No matter who you are

We’ll come together by staying apart,

For now, love from afar.

enforced isolation has a price.. regardless of who or what is doing the forcing.. a well written piece for the times we live..

It is very important to feel one's feelings and let them be what they are. It's when people let their negative feelings run out of control that they get into trouble.
