FlameA Poem by MLE
I’ve been caught in your fire,
the hot embers land on my skin and crackle like the melting ice on a winters morning. My whole body comes alive. My chest feels like it is about to erupt. It is full of warmth and joy and every time I see that picture that sits proudly displayed, with me wherever I go, it fills a gap I didn’t know I had a little bit more. Funny, that I compare you to a fire and then am presented with a twin flame. I am eternally drawn to you. I am happy to be used as kindling by you just so I can be with you and say that I mean something to you and that I’m needed by you. I am filled with a desperate need that I have not battled for years. I burn every other option in order to keep your flame alive. My body and bones physically ache when I am not with you, right down to the genetic makeup of my soul. You are the oxygen to my fire and to the fire that burns fiercely in my lungs, you are their master. In time, you have become the fire yourself. Now you must decide; Ignite me, fuel me, or let me burn. © 2019 MLE |
