Forget

Forget

A Poem by MLE

I’m worried that I’ll be forgotten,
Not in the grand scheme of things
Or a world that’s rotten.

But in the little things I do,
That I took for granted
That brought me to you.

I feel as though the time has come
For me to spread my wings
And run.

But I don’t want to stray from you
But that is what I seem to do.

I miss you so
Each waking day
But I’m not sure
It works both ways.

There are those who keep your heart a beat
And all I face is bitter defeat.

I am worried that when I return,
Ashes won’t go to ashes
I’ll sleep in an urn.

A love that’s lost across a sea.
Please, oh please
don’t you forget me.
