Fin

Fin

A Poem by MLE

Honestly, I give up.
For the first time in a while I threw my doubts out.
I set it on stilts and watched it dance over hot coals precariously, all the while smiling and letting hope soar.
But it fell. And I fell with it. Down a coarse set of reality.
Why would I bother? Who would truly love me for me?
They won’t and they don’t and I give up. Because those who like me do not set me a light. And those that do, like pretty girls with gentle laughs and gleeful glances.
I’ve been dulled, genuinely, by misplaced feet and unwanted kisses. I give up. I really do.
I hope that they are right for you. Because I’m done, until someone sees through all this. If only I could have one wish.
