Memory Lane

Memory Lane

A Poem by Emily19

Memory Lane
The road of the past
A terrifying concept

Stepping into childhood,
as others love to do
but my memories aren't smiling
they're all about you

I walk, reliving the pain
A childhood,
torn apart
by rough hands and hurtful words
smashed
by sweet promises and horrible lies
I wonder how I got so far

As I reach the end of my childhood
a pause
looking back on the terror
And as I continue,
reliving every cut,
every touch,
every mistake,
I realize

If I could survive you,
I can survive anything
