The calm after the stormA Poem by Emily19Waves pounding, crashing on the shore. The rain pelting the water's surface. You sit by the window, staring out at the vast gray expanse. Fire, crackling vigorously next to you. And the rain pounding on the roof, like a thousand tiny hammers, waiting to be let in. In the morning, the beach will be covered in small treasures, washed up by Poseidon's rage. shells, wood, crabs, fishing nets. Many treasures to adore. Sea glass, rounded smooth by the untamed Ocean, blues and greens and reds. Look out at the sea, reflecting the sky in blue, and the world seems so calm now, If only they knew. The barbaric waves that crashed upon the shore, just hours before. The winds that bent the trees, almost to the ground, just hours before. Oh, what a strange place this Ocean is, In the calm right after the storms.
