June

A Poem by Emily

No One Dances

   Like They Should Think

       On This Side-Walk

          In June

             On A Starry Night

                 We Met

                    In The Sweltering

                       Heat

                   He Grabbed My Hand

                Twirled Me Around

             And Dipped Me Down

         There We Danced

       Unafraid

    On The Corner Of

 First Street And First Avenue

Love At First Sight

   Is As Prejudice As

     Hate

       Now

         Only When The Temperature

            Hits 76 Degrees

              Exactly

                Do We Find Each Other

                 “Hurry, Hurry

                Meet Me Before

             It Rises Or Falls”

           The Trees Are Swaying

         Singing Their Leaf

Songs Messing Up

  Our Hair

    Suddenly

      It Feels Warmer

        I Check The Thermometer

          Implanted In My Wrist

            Hidden Under My Watch

         Its 82

     And Time To Go

   Home

And This Is Not

 A Love Poem
