A Poem by Emily

Have You Been Published?

“If So

I Will Like

Your Words.”

I Have Had My Best

Picked Apart

And Made

Shallow

And My Worst

Adored

For The Depth

By Idiots

Who Have Degrees

In Literature

Piled On Their Heads

Their Shining

Crown

Of Paper.

I Tell Them -

To Burn It

And In The Gray

SMOKE

That Swirls Effortlessly

Into The Abyss

Will Be Their

Greatest

Work Of

           Art.

And They

      Do Not

Understand

Any-Thing

That Does Not

Fit Into

The Palm

Of Their Hand

For Them To Squeeze

The Life OUT

Of.
