A Second Trip

A Second Trip

A Poem by Emily

I Put Your Crib

In The Back Seat

Of My Car

In Pieces

Screws In A Baggy

Neatly Taped To The Bar

With Your Teeth Marks

Still In The Wood

From When You Cut

Your Bottom Left Tooth

I Rocked You

In The Chair

For Hours

That Night

Swaddled Tightly

In Your Favorite

Purple Fuzzy Blanket

Cold Washcloth

In Your Mouth

I Put Your Pink Silky Quilt Set

In The Front Seat

I Have Not Washed It

Since You Left

It Still Smells Like Your

Baby Lotion

I Will Have To Make A Second Trip

To Give Away Your Stroller

The One I Spent Hours

Picking Out

Brown With Pink Flowers

Not Too Big, Not Too Small

And You Never Liked

Sitting In It

You Wanted To Be Held

In My Arms

I’m Keeping Your Black

Shiny Shoes

Your Hair Bows

And The Little White Dress

I Was So Excited

To Put On You
