A Poem by Emily

Labels Go On

The Left Side Of Boxes

Sealed Tightly With Translucent

Packing Tape

    -The Mail Person

   Looks Cautiously

Over Her Shoulders

The Sound Of A Lawn Mower

 The Beep-Beep Of Microwave Ovens

A Dog Chained To A Tree Stops

Running In Circles

She Traces Her Slender Index Finger

Slowly Around Each

Corner

Rips The Tape Off

   And Looks Inside

A Fish Is Swimming

   In a Plastic Baggy
