Almost

Almost

A Poem by Emily

"The Difference Between The Right Word And The Almost Right Word Is The Difference Between Lightning And A Lightning Bug." ~ Mark Twain

 In The Interrupted

       (As Almost Always)

I Look

To The Left:  When I Notice

             The Peculiar

              Thoughts

       Memories

Designed By The Favoured

Perception

   And Hope

         This Was Not

    Expected

             From Me:

   This Reflection

  Grew

  Into An Exciting Anticipation

Of Events Unknown

       Like Early Morning Coffee

With Five Scoops

              Now The Indifference

   Takes Me Over The Edge

Of This Insensitive Reality

  That Names

And Blames

  The Past:

(I Look Out The Window

  There Are Trees Without Leaves

The Sky Is Blue

   Cars And Trucks Drive By

Faster and Faster

Changing The Scenery

            I See

And Scarce-Ly Notice

While I Ponder)

  What Could Have Been

If Only

     No One Ever Said

                                 Almost
