Walking Death

Walking Death

A Poem by Emily Wright

Lurking in the shadows,
Banging on the door,
Stalking the ones we love,
Walking through the darkness,
Leaning in the corner,
Watching,
Living off our pain.
Death lurks all around us,
Working for our fall,
Watching for our weakness,
Waiting for the moment,
The moment to bring us down,
To strike and win the battle,
The battle of life and death.
They will drain us of our power.
Doing their utmost best,
To bring us to a weakened state.
They hope to capture us,
To make us one of them,
No longer one of the living,
But one of them,
One of the walking dead.
