Night Walk

Night Walk

A Poem by Emily Wright

Your steps eco off the walls of the empty streets,

your feel carry you along the walk,

leading you to the dead of night,

and as you move along the shadowed street,

the street lights start to flicker,

as they do,

it seems as though the street is being turned on and off.

Chills creep up and down your spine,

causing you to shiver as the cold night are bites anything it can reach.

When the sound of footsteps breaks the peace,

you listen in alarm,

you listen to the rushing feet coming up behind,

your heart beat pounds in your chest trying to break out,

you move your feet to match your pounding heart,

and as you run down the empty streets,

it seems the footsteps of the faceless feet start to disappear,

leaving you alone with the darkness,

and as you walk in threw your door,

the sound of the unknow footsteps pound in your ears.
