deaddreams

A Poem by Emily B

a dream died

and I came so close to dying alongside

{not that you'd notice}

I put away all the childish notions

folded them in a drawer

with the aged letters

{and smiles like sunshine}

I am much too practical

to wander lost very long

but one day

I will look back

and remember

sunshine

. ohhh ... sadness is a difficult bridge to cross ... it's tougher still to bury hopes ... the presence of "sunshine" can be evidenced even in its absence ... in life and ... in this beautiful piece of writing ... i wish we all have better days in the very near future ...

something that stays in us when we age... 'I put away all the childish notions
folded them in a drawer
with the aged letters'

I think this is one of your best. It is certainly one of my favourites. Poignant.

I love the feeling conveyed within the imagery of putting dead dreams in a drawer to be reminisced upon later in life. I was cleaning a drawer out in my room a few days back, and looked upon the old birthday cards I had kept, this piece sums up the feelings of that moment pretty well...

Great Write Emily!!!

sometimes I wish I was more practical..sometimes less

but it's all in the matrix and I hope I get to hug you before I die Emily

it's in my top three list of things to do..I hope that dream doesn't die
