fear

fear

A Poem by Emily B

the darkness from my dreams

always followed me

it spilled over into days

and nights

you would never find me outside after dusk

lights were mysteriously left on

all over the house

I pretended not to notice

the lights

or the fear that followed me

but there is a place

where my dreams can't follow

where the ghosts of the past

don't crowd

where I feel safe

I find it amusing and weird of me to say, but I am scared of light. Photo-phobia. Light gives me a insecurity of judgment. Darkness makes me safe and covered. (this might explain who I really am, maybe?)
Awesome thou not be finished...
I love how you associated darkness of fear.
(the reason why people are scared of darkness isn't the opaque obscurity, but the unknown INSIDE the shade.)

Can't wait 'til it is done.

hmm. not sure about this one, i like it, the images are quite clear. but i don't feel the "whole" of the poem yet. ah i just saw the not thats says its not finished yet... nevermind, heh, i telling you stuff you already know. still, i sense it posed to go around a corner... and look forward to seeing it complete.

I've felt this feeling periodically throughout my life
I've dreamt of a woman throwing her clothes off in one motion and everything going black
I've felt death, the moment/memory of it..it's a memory where everything is both pitch black and blindingly white
there is power in the living word, each witness u've inspired is a part of this power

If fear follows you perhaps you should turn to face it..." I've been terrified by a great many things in my life; most of which, never happened." I think it was Mark Twain that said that. Good stuff Emily. Got the chickens turned out and spent all day painting a gazebo. Just wandered in. ;o)

liked the contrast here, that fear of the night, the neccessity of leaving the house fully lit and then the safe haven, the place where you do feel ok. this does feel unfinished but in a good way. fragments of poetry tucked away.
