possessing

possessing

A Poem by Emily B

I wonder if you remember the spider web you found in the early morning woods and the way the dew drops sparkled in the light of a new day.

Did you disturb the delicate threads?

Or did you hold your breath and tiptoe away

so that you would not harm the beauty of nature's art?

There is the stray crane that flies overhead on his way to somewhere else.

The spectacle was enough to make me forget to breathe for a moment.

Beauty strikes such a deep chord.

Even though we would like to pull the wonder near and hold it close forever,

we accept the gift and let it go.

When you see a butterfly light on a flower, waving her wings in the sun,

even if you are near enough

that you could reach out and touch the delicate span with your fingertips,

would you?

Would you risk the damage you might cause?

I am the spider web sparkling with dew,

I am the crane in elegant flight,

I am the butterfly poised for a moment.

This is lovely. Your conclusion inspires the reader to want to read it again with a new perspective. As a writer, the only thing better than convincing someone (through title and intro) to read your piece, is intriguing them enough to make them read it again!

Now i've found the words LOL To me this is about understanding our true essence as we exist in this universe.

I am the spider web sparkling with dew,
I am the crane in elegant flight,
I am the butterfly poised for a moment.

To me all three of these things are beautiful scenes that we ignore everyday, we often fail to recognize them for what they really are. The same is with ourselves, in how we ignore the humanity in others and even in ourselves and there is great beauty and value in that humanity, even if it can be easy to ignore. Well done Emily. This is actually one of my favorites of yours:)

And I am the child in awe of your beauty! Sometimes it takes us reaching out and touching the delicate wings to learn about the frailties of life...And we hear them say, "You can look, but don't touch." But I do feel this splendor in the vastness of my imagination...

Great Write Emily!
