the safest bet I know

the safest bet I know

A Poem by Emily B

would you believe
that sometimes people come to me
and spill stories
they wouldn't ordinarily tell?
and every single time
the words I needed
have come . . . no gamble,
just faith that I will have
what I need when I need it.
that the words will be given.
how often
have I wandered across a poem
that answered a question
I didn't know I had yet?
and how often
have my poems eased another?
Words are the safest bet I know.

so true... the poem ended very well. the beginning was also good, but the whole thing got much better as it flowed onwards towards its conclusion.

"how often
have I wandered across a poem
that answered a question
I didn't know I had yet?"

this happens to me all the time. it's unbeliebveable.

I agree entirely!
I think that it only works if you open, receptive to hearing/seeing the words.
This poem was like reading my life : )

maybe the uncertainty is in the subtext...
I said the other day that wisdom is hiding behind your doubts
and I think you step in front of them when you gather your intent and move fwd with words that are alive
call it the subconscious mind, call it soul, the word is alive, and it has power, to be respected and used wisely, which you do, in this poem and in general [=

Ah, the magic of words... and the intuition of poetry. So much conveyed in these few gentle lines.
