just knowing

just knowing

A Poem by Emily B
"

it may grow

"

I took a walk one rainy fall evening

as if I could leave behind

the dark cloud of unease

that I couldn't explain.

The neighbor's pond called to me;

orange and red-leaved trees

stood tall against the horizon,

every brilliant leaf reflected back

from the rippling water.

In a moment, I realized

that my churning insides

moved in time with

the red and orange shimmering of the water

I was part of the vibrations I witnessed.

The realization brought tears

that were neither sad nor glad

just knowing

I love those fleeting moments of knowing. This poem describes so well that I can almost feel the sensation myself. We are all part of the natural world, we are like leaves floating on the water. A beautiful vision as well as depth is to be found in this poem.

Very lovely. I got a feeling of Walden in the mix. I like the 'neither sad nor glad' moment.

I can relate to this on so many levels, which you made it easy to do by painting such a graphic picture. I can stare at this picture, knowing, because of the way you described it. A read-over-a-few-times for me.

I was part of the vibrations I witnessed...

that speaks so much and greatly of you.

It's spring in Argentina, but I've just been in autumn for a couple of minutes.
thank you!

beautifully penned. I have to look for newer items, don't I. I think it may be good to be back. Not sure.

I love these moments. They flash and go. That's what they're there for. Your colors do double-duty for you here.

I absolutely love poetry about water- here we have the lake and the autumn leaf and the poet caught up in their rhythms. Sometimes nature draws a response that we don't expect- I know walking calms me. love the spirit of this write :)

Very Vivid. A self realization within the warm colors of the recently deceased...neither sad nor glad...just...there.

Love the feelings this brought.
