7 Days til Christmas . . .

7 Days til Christmas . . .

A Chapter by Emily B

Dear journal, since I can't tell anybody else I will tell you. I went into the laundry press to put some linens away today. I didn’t poke about too much. Only here and there a little bit while nobody was looking. Did I find anything? I think maybe so. . . a lovely little leather bound journal with dozens of empty white pages just waiting to be filled. I can’t think of anybody else that would love to have such a little book. Do I dare hope that it is a gift for me? I put it carefully back between the towels and looked over my shoulder to make certain that nobody saw me. I skipped about my chores all day, barely able to contain my excitement. Mother gave me strange looks at dinner. I tried to look as innocent as I could.

The time is drawing near... A journal, the ideal gift for a writer, yes? This makes me a bit nostalgic as I remember poking about as a child...examining closets and the like. Great last line...
