One Perfect Word

One Perfect Word

A Poem by Emily B
"

an old one . . .

"

Last night I dreamed

You said one word to me

And it expressed your heart so perfectly

You said it again.

That perfect word between two minds

Meant worlds and beyond.

The intensity of your gaze

Made me believe.

The word vanished when I woke

And I have never regretted more

The loss of one perfect word.

I think most of us hold that one perfect word in reserve until (hopefully) at last we find the special someone to whisper it to. Not the standard words we would expect... I'm thinking of one word we've never spoken with the "intensity" you mentioned. Maybe I'm rambling... Just one ordinary word can change a life though if it is said in the proper circumstance.
Nicely written!

I love this one. It's so imaginitive and bright, less like a poem and more like a concept. Great, great.

I have heard it too, softly in my sleep, only to wake ... at loss as well.

Lovely...

It may be an old one, but your verse is timeless... You know, after reading you I am literally without words.... the soul transcends beyond the stars into a feeling that is magical.... and so very powerful...

I am a true believer that sometimes more is said with less...and even silence...you have said it perfectly in few words here

dreams can be things too, like this, a word and something else between two people, love, was that the word, said in its true form?

I love this and noticed another writer wrote a piece in response to yours. I did the same and hope you will check it out as you were my muse (so to speak.)

**Sigh**
One word can create or destroy so many things.
Beautiful poem, Emily!

I was thinking the word was either love or your name. The way one says the word is the important part...while gazing into a lovers eyes...great job.
