where angels fear

where angels fear

A Poem by Emily B
"

the beginning of something

"

They say fools rush in
with their rough-hewn words
and home grown cures
offering calloused hands
when hope seems lost.

And I reckon that
if I can't get angels

with their sure wings

and flowing robes--

I'd just as soon
have the foolish heart
to walk beside me.

Feels like a double-meaning, or maybe the song [first line] is infecting my instinct :-)
Rushing in to love...rushing in to clumsily comfort.
I like it a lot, snappy images go nicely with the decisive conlusion. The first half feels angry, the second more light-hearted. No matter how many times I read it I can't

wait, yes I can; man, I'm silly
"offering hands
when hope seems gone." = fond appreciation?

There it is, not angry. People trying their best.
[I think?]

Great piece. Look at how hard I've had to work lol.

from the referral group..a short and powerful piece..knowledge is useless in the wrong hands and they do say that ignorance is bliss..so I would be a happy fool :)

Each of your poems is awesome and this one is no different. I especially love the 'axiomatic twist' at the end. It puts the part preceding it in perspective.

An uncertain life versus a surefire death...give me life every time.

What an incredibly beautiful piece (referred by The Analog Kid).

Angels often lose their wings at the dawning of the day, a sad sight to see.

We all need to take a chance, after all it may just brighten up our otherwise mundane lives..

:o) enjoyed

Angels seem few and far between these days, but fools, well that's another matter.

I like how you begin and end the poem in somewhat the same way. Very thought provoking. I think my favorite would be the last stanza because it's smooth and matter-of-fact. I can't quite grasp the words I want to effectively tell you my interpretation, but I think this is the work of a true poet. Excellent piece!

This Man, with calloused hands, very much appreciates these words.
