soulmate

A Poem by Emily B
"

just another part of a conversation

"

I wonder about soulmates-- sometimes--

are they like fairies?

Is there pixie dust in this world enough

to bring them back to life,

If I say out loud, "I don't believe"?

Because I'm really over

Santa Claus and the tooth fairy,

I don't have time

for another thing to be believed,

sight unseen.

It's just that,

I've never met one--

never felt the magic of a twin soul.

Never been so complete.

And I wonder

is that why I ramble

and wander

and falter

so often?

"many questions blame the words"

that doesnt make sense but i thought it did when i wrote it. I look for a soul mate but can it happen. (it sounds like a great quote from someone. it blurted out...emerson and thoreau never had "famous blurts"). am i just narcisistic. can i spell narcisistic?

can a writer (a person of write) ever have a soul mate since we all are kind of really narcisistic? narcisistic people really want to connect with others... (how many times have i said narcisitic in this review?) but are too busy dating themselves

but, look at HD and Pound, or well, others, who do connect. virginnia woolf and her husband... they sail away and really discover something wonderful... it can happen i suppose. this is a rambling piece of writing.

i am a lapsed mormon (heavens no!) but lapsed i said... and mormons believe in eternal marriage. of course having been married several (twice) times i would like to have an explination inserted.

anyway:
i like skinny poems, the existential tentitive quality can happen with the pulling out of a line this way. the subject matter and the conversational style combine ...pulls the reader into dialog, captuing the reader in his own questions carried to the text. thanks raining

I believe that soulmates are those that share something special, they are pulled toward one another...like a magnet, like a connection that can't be broken. They see their own reflection in each other. Not an easy find, but whether we find our soulmate or not, I think we all strive for it. It is like a security blanket to find a soulmate.

I understand the dichotomy, but I am forbidden by the gods from providing any answers.

On another note i like the comment that Benjamin wrote "What makes a relationship so special is not that you are meant to be together, but rather that you choose to be together despite all the obstacles that work againced you" Right on!!!

It's an interesting concept soul mate, I think mine would have to be the exact polar opposite or I can only imagine disaster but then it still wouldn't be perfect because their stability would no doubt bore the heck out of me given enough time, or I would drive them mad one or the other LOL. But I don't know, maybe there is such a thing, maybe its that nagging along with all that cosmic radiation or something and maybe if one was ever lucky enough to find their soul mate all that nagging back ground noise would shush and leave room for other things or something.. don't know, just speculating.

There are "soul mates" with which one makes a deeper connection. However, I do not believe it is just one person out there for each of us. Regardless of a perfect fit, relationships will always require a lot of effort to make it work. I like what you have to say about fairy dust and a twin soul. This is creative and thoughtful poetry. Bravo!

Hahahah... Nah. Those who believe in soulmates undersell their relationships instead of exalting them. What makes a relationship so special is not that you are meant to be together, but rather that you choose to be together despite all the obstacles that work against you.

Continue on with the questions in poetry. These deep thoughts are interesting.

I believe there are. I always have. But the finding part is tricky, and the chasing part very exhausting. Apart from that, thank you for making it all so clear. ;)

Oh yes my dear poet, there are soulmates. My soulmate for forty years passed on to glory on April 25th and I feel like a part of me is gone. Soulmates exists and if you look hard into a persons soul you will find yours, as I found mine.

A great write here, enjoyed every word.
