A Poem by Emily B

You wonder where my power comes from

and shine silver bullets to silence

siren songs that spring from somewhere.

You look for trap doors and hidden switches,

{dissecting me piece by piece}

to find the melodies you still swear you can't hear.

Your logic can't explain wingless flight

or answers like sweet pups that come when called.

And so I face the inquisition, dodging pitchforks and fire

for sins you are kind enough to imagine for me.

One day, if you look close, you may find

that my voice is all that ever wanders.

I am anchored fast to this good earth

but one day my wings will grow again.

A really fine poem packed with great imagery, with sirens and trap doors, then the wonderfully written line ...for sins you are kind enough to imagine for me, full of both humour and bitterness ( love it ). Emily writes really well, and as someone who has followed her work it is getting even better all the time. Great poem.

lovely...
and so i face inquisition, dodging pitchforks and fire,
Iam anchored fast to this good earth
but one day my wings will grow again
there is sorrow and hope...sun on your rainy day...suns on rainy days make rainbows...

This is wonderful, I love the alliteration scattered about!
I'm not sure what else to say because everyone else has said it! I apologize for the lame review! All I can say is that it gave me some sense of hope, when I needed it. Some understanding...

Some strong images convey well the sense of one enduring the critical demands of another who is blind to the beauty that is already there..

YOU GO MA!!
This is just beautiful. Acceptance. Acceptance of responsibility and of self. All angels must comprehend this immutable fact before regaining their wings. Love these lines:

"And so I face the inquisition, dodging pitchforks and fire
for sins you are kind enough to imagine for me.
One day, if you look close, you may find
that my voice is all that ever wanders."

...the angel knows to imagine sins would impede the re-growth of wings, so Angel is content to haltingly indulge in damnable thoughts via the surrogate of electronica and such. Angelic speech is incomprehensible to unrepentant sinners. Is 'voice' a metaphor for all-encompassing angelic thought manifested as Humanly intelligible sound? If so, then I take the line: "...my voice is all that ever wanders.", to mean: my words are difficult to understand, but have no fear, this is the nature of angelic banter...to meander.
Also the second line is titillating! I imagine an angel falsely accused of being a Werewolf and knowing there are Werewolf hunters shinning silver bullets for the hunt!
A very stirring poem Ema! Overt religious overtones tinged with intimations of perhaps warranted inquisition? Just loverly. So much to chew on here! This one goes to my FAVS!

Crazy alliteration in the second and third lines made my inner voice serpentine for a few wonderful moments. Oh how I pray this was intentional. Oh the things a mind will conclude when there is so much to play with. Werewolves, Vampires, Witches oh my. Ethereal without being empty, old souled without being pushy, beautiful without selling your wares. Another great one.

You have defended your honor in a very classy way... most of us would not be so kind. I admire you for this. You are the only source of this information given and it should be respected. Your last two sentences say it all, your wings are clipped and you have no intention of flying the coop you are in. this made me smile.
