What stood out the most to me was the "may be".
That line was special because you didn't simply write "maybe". You spaced it out.
"May" you used as an expression of wish.
"Be" you used in expression to exist.
That was amazing. I have to admit.
Sometime the little things stand out the most. Brilliant work. :}
I am so practical these days. I hardly ever fly anymore.

Oh yeah, this is a excellent twist. We think of the muse as a island that we dance around, or the cookie jar we can't keep our hand out of.
You have switched it all around as your words give beauty to the singer's song.
With this new wisdom, I say to my fellow poets let our words add life to our muse and never just take.
I will be reading this one again.
These few words gave me goose bumps -- an unexpected pleasure! It meant to me the impact that such a small kindness can have on a seemingly "inconsequential" [if there IS such a thing] being . . . so much so that the plain little bird felt she could not just fly, but soar. In these times, I know I feel like that plain brown bird -- a creature of inconsequence. Heartfelt write, Emily.
That is sometimes all it takes to realize that maybe we are more than we think. There a lot of plain brown birds that flock to sites like this and get those supportive moments that make us better. Great writing and so good to see you again as well!!!
Emily is one of the poets I often look at, simply because she writes very well. And it was clever of me to look at this, a fine poem. I really like off-kilter, and starshine heat is great, a seeming contradiction, but the more you look at this line the more you realise it fits exactly.Excellent.

I am no Wendy;
but my voice brings you back to me.
And you sit around my feet,
anxious for a story
or a kiss.
Listening to my words
spinning adventures,
like so much g.. more..
