trick or treat

trick or treat

A Poem by Emily B

You frightened me last night.

No sooner

had I crawled in under cold covers

then --

there you were

standing in the hall

gazing so intently.

As I startled,

I realized

that I never heard you

come up the stairs.

And then you vanished

without a word

What a great write - it conjures two scenarios to me - one very frightening with a ghost BOO!!! ...according to the season of course but also another one where the husband/partner comes home late at night, gathers a few things, looks back at his wife/partner says a silent "So long..." and vanishes out of her life...

Only a few words you needed to paint this whole picture - marvelous. I truly like it.

very eerie indeed, there is so much that can be read into this... ghosting and pure.

This leaves a lot unspoken, which allows possibilities. Loved one long gone but back for a moment? Object of one's longing? Frightening stalker?

Either way ... the picture is painted well.

Damn, this was spooky. I got kinda scared for you. I don't know what you started, but I can only guess it was a seance in the bed. Cryptic, but a nice little tingler. I usually go for the treat! ...though a trick can be interesting too!

Very intense visual. Made see a thought form in my head that gave me a chill. Thinking what might be the underlying story here and whom the vistor may be. Always a pleasure diving into your words.

This gave me the chills. Spooky! I'm still afraid of the dark and I sometimes get scared with the shadows dancing across my walls.
