Existence Shared

A Poem by Emily B
"

shared once with a friend

"

You’ve long promised me a walk, my friend.

A rambling, hand-holding stroll through words I felt too small to meet alone--

Or maybe just a thoughtful travel through blueberry lanes

where you would unravel the mysteries of your creations.

Even knowing that poems cannot mean—

once set to page those words can only Be--

I sit patiently for clues.

Bits of conversation, punctuated by rainy days, intertwining histories--

yours and mine and theirs.

You’ve long promised me a walk, my friend,

And so far—it’s been a lovely journey.

Considering your condition Emily, I'd say this poem is bold indeed. Most just want to chill when the Flu bug has reared its ugly head, however you relish a walk...perhaps a walk on the wild side!! to provide some levity and excitement! I understand laughter and great friends are a cure for many ailments.
Walks are metaphysical as well as literal. An uplifting poem. What a way to battle those nasty bugs. ;-)

Beautiful, Emily! Your words conjured images of tree-lined pathways, peaceful cloudy skies and the deep silence of nature, filled with companionship for the one other person there. The ending was wonderful and made me smile. Bravo! :D

Oh my, this is beautiful.

I love 'You've long promised me a walk, my friend, And so far-it's been a lovely journey.'

Excellent choice of words too, an almost fantasy aspect of reality. Very nice.

What a wonderful dedication, it's almost a song that the author sings to herself. Pat yourself on the back for a life richly lived in emotion, knowing the journey of one's own self confidence and displaying it proudly. You've made yourself some subliminal promises and have now consciously rewarded and reaped the benefits.

I adore your writing.

Emily, This is beautiful..
I loved the usage of line - "You've long promised me a walk, my friend" in the end, which has imparted such a great feel in the end..
The entire poem is actually very much dreamy with such a brilliant imagery!
But indeed it is very much uplifting!
Great work...

What a sweet poem - a walk with a friend especially holding hands is such a blessing of warmth and sincerity. Nicely captured. Thank you for sharing your talent.

This poem is delicious like a rich dessert that you must eat slowly to savor every bite. Wonderful imagery is painted in the reader's mind as you read this and really brings this poem alive. The line: "You promised me a walk my friend." has such a lovely nostalgic quality to it, I just adore that line!

Emily this is another wonderfully inspirational piece... as long as you walk with God through life you certainly can't go wrong.

I had to come back and read this one agin...promises made ...why is the past always filled with so many empty broken promises... I guess so one can become empty and look to the present and future to find filled anf fullfilled promises... If only..sigh..
