Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis

A Poem by Emily B
"

a silly poem about poetry woke up as this one day. some of the words are mine. some I can't claim.

"

Poetry is a place

outside
under blue skies

breezes trickle by
clouds wink
hills look on

Poetry is a place

where I am more than the chains

that tie me to my desk

during lunch
I'll slip them off with my shoes

arrive barefoot
and free

That simple metamorphosis can sometimes keep us sane. It sounds so simple but isn't always that easy. We make our escapes as we're able to and reap the bennies from it. This is a delightful reminder Emily, and you often give me the little reminders I need and I'm so thankful for you.

Metamorphosis is one of my favourite words, for reasons I won't delve into here. And I'll agree that writing of any sort breaks me out of my chrysalis, no matter now trapped I feel.

This is very warm, gracious and sincere...

Never mind whether or not the words are yours to claim. You found the right words. And everytime i read one of your poems. I see and feel the right words. Poetry is a place. And I hope to see you there Emily.

Lovely thought of slipping away into a dream world of words, escaping from the daily drudgery into the blue sky of shared thoughts... A pleasing write...

Felt like this was valuable and well written (as usual), but prefer the first part of Poetry. This does add another layer to the other poem. I enjoy your takes on writing.

If clouds could be seen to walk on the earth, this is the way it would feel, very zen, very modern art.

Yes, I agree that poetry can brighten our lives and lift us up to the clouds, just wonderful.
Or it can as Emily Dickinson said, "make me feel as if the top of my head were taken off" by this we know it is poetry; when it moves us with power and abandon. Wonderful write.
