what I want

what I want

A Poem by Emily B

As I am a woman and changeable,
I cannot tell you what I need--

not flowers or jewels or sweet perfume.

Today, I want the sun and moon and stars.

Tomorrow, I may only want to hear
the quiet hum of your voice.

Tonight, I may ask you to move a mountain.

By morning's light, I might need a loving word
or two.

Don't think I would ask you to change for me.
You'll do the way you are for now.

But, tomorrow--well,

by then,
I may change my mind.

A very clever take on the old chestnut about women being fickle--but there's more than just one-note cleverness here. As the learned Mr. Simm states, the flow and cadence in the piece are excellent, the result of fine craftsmanship, and the interplay between the cosmic and everyday is handled expertly. Just a very fine piece of work.

Well i like a summers breeze spread evenly on my toast each morning, and ice cold rainbows by an open fire on cold winters evenings, women may change, but they need the rock, to be a safe harbour

Oh, this was so clever....and how women do drive crazy the ones who try to understand them.

even if they gave us manuals, we wouldn't understand how they work, that's if we can read at all... "The female mind", he answered, when asked about the mysteries of creation.

This made me laugh out loud! I am not sure if that is the reaction you are going for but this is the definitive description of all women! This is the reason for many a failed relationship and for many men sitting with a beer and baffled expression. I love it so much!
It's so me!
