Borrowed

Borrowed

A Poem by Emily B

I borrowed some words once

found them floating on the wind.

They were breezy little words

full of fun and laughter.

I held them close.

We smiled and sang.

And letter by letter,

I spelled them out

for you to see.

No, the poem's not signed.

Foolish man--these words

were never mine

to begin with.

They were only borrowed

from the wind.

gorgeous. i adore the ending - "the little man" and words being borrowed from the wind so you can't claim them as your own! fantastic idea. :)

"I held them close.

We smiled and sang."

adorable. the lilting laughing quality of those lines is adorable, and really catches the reader.

Emily - this has the feel of a poem written by a master. I will tell you why. Because it is brief, holds many different meanings, and is very simple, yet leaves you pondering what it might mean exactly for many minutes after you are done reading it.

Every writer will find truth in this, and every writer will see different words floating on the wind in their mind. Now, I have another important thing to tell you. Don't let it go to your head! :D

Please write more like this,
- Ben

(PS: I have a strong idea that this would easily qualify for publication.)

Nice image. Spoken like a faerie spirit teasing some poor mortal. The concept of borrowing words from the wind.

Beautiful - just stunning - you have such a way with uplifting the spirit. To find the words on the wind and not claim them as your own is truly an insight into your loving soul - Great work.
