Elusive as the DreamA Poem by Emily Bfor Dostani and The Broken PoetAm I real, today?
|
Three people from across the country had the same dream one dark and rainy night. It affected them so deeply that come morning they were still shaken and wondering. It was the same dream except for each person the big, scary monster was drawn from each person's deepest self doubt. The rain and the doubt didn't begin to lift until the words came.

When I read this, my first thoughts were of the French expression l'heure bleue (Blue hour) - which refers to the hour experienced between the hours of daylight and darkness. This period of the day is considered special, because of the quality of the light.
In the case of your beautifully poetic composition, I found this was because of the quality of the write, which made it special. God's Blessing Phillozofee Posted 16 Years Ago5 of 5 people found this review constructive. |

this is a very calming read emily. "am i real today?" i understand that feeling, and i like the way it plays into the rest of the poem, and the self doubt you mentioned in your description.

People of the spirit often feel the elements in a special way... and connect through the pulse and movement of the atmosphere that embraces us and draws us together in union

I like the commanding tone, you're driving the poem and that's a nice change from reading poems where the thoughts move the author to this or that.
And knowing that you and I and he all felt the same void last night in our dreams I dig this section... I've used that list style a few times because I think it makes sentiment that much more accessible, immediate, and personal. The ending is somewhat expected, but it could be that I just have a love affair with sadness, and perhaps that just says I take the easy route too often, you could consider a bleaker close though. I think generally, that sadness and or heartbreak just express in direct but round about ways, what it is, was to know the light. I was impressed by many aspects of this. These are simple and powerful words Emily. This is your gift. One that I enjoy seeing you display. Your words confess to me, simple authority! Love it!

A lovely sentiment. Gentle, simple, honest. I think you need a period after struggle.
