The Farmer

The Farmer

A Chapter by Emily B

Sometimes,

I think angels

wear blue jeans and faded t-shirts

and with the wisdom

of Solomon

they teach Sunday school

and raise children

and shine

under all the layers

of caked-on mud

and manure.

Somtimes this is true. I have found that those who still practice the old art of chivalry and care when it comes to family and children are typically those who remain true to things like farming, ranching, etc. They have not been tainted by the outside world of techo-readiness. Well done.

It's time for you to get what is deserved. This collection ought to be published, it is that good Emily. Please consider sending it to a publisher, or entering it in a real competition for Poetry collections.

You, my dear, I have neglected to appreciate properly. Don't get me wrong, I think of you daily, but I began to get ahead of my self and forgot how you inspire me so profoundly.

A tribute to you:

Sometimes,
I think the real angels
are those that were once lost,

have bathed in tears
and slept with loneliness,

all with the heart
of humanity and history in their souls.

Tis manure time again... LOL I live in an Amish community, so some of our farmers use horses to plow... really beautiful to watch. This is a fine work about fine people.

Oh yes, I must wholeheartedly agree - there is nothing like the humblest of people to give powerful guidance to others. Beautiful, a true delight. Thank you.

All I can say is I am humbled by your writing. If truth could be captured any better, I don't see how.

Angels come in so many forms. I love the unconventional way you have portrayed them here. But all angels have a common goal of service. If that means tilling the land or laying brick.

Fantabulous ...

Like a super-nova

do I detect ...an ongoing metaphor/denominator with the shirts ?

I remember this one well, Emily. It's one of my favorites because it reminds me of my Grandpa who is a farmer. I will always remember him in his overalls and faded t-shirts. This describes him so well ... "The wisdom of Solomon."

What a brilliant idea. The Woodworker, Farmer and Poet. Terrific and just one sentence. Albeit, I'm not sure about all the and connectives. I think that it seems to naturally end as a sentence after t-shirts.

Sometimes,
I think angels
wear blue jeans and faded t-shirts.
With the wisdom
of Solomon

But apart from that I think it's great and I love that opening.
