The poem floated my boat. Once, as a boy I stood on the porch watching raindrops fall form the eaves. I don't know at what point I came to believe the raindrpops were stationary and I was rising, but I do know at that point I fell off the porch. You poem knocked me off the porch
Emily, you have captured beautifully, in this poem, those moments, which our brains tries to protect us, from the world around us. Too often, I have that "1 000 metre" stare, which you describe, as I deal with my traumatic past.
There's something immensely real in being neither here nor there.. tis a place where a person can be utterly alone but happily self, briefly lost in an unreachable place Cloud-gazing loses me to reality sometimes..
Those two last lines are like golden cords holding you close to someone.. out of reach but never gone.. so beautiful.

This is a very real poem. It's idea is simple but it's a great poem because of how it's written and how true it is that these days exist, days when we are here in physicality, but so far away in our minds :) well penned!
Brief, but not lacking in effect. Paints a very good, relate-able picture in my head. Easy to read, but in no way does that mean it isn't deep or compelling.
to the Lost Boys
I am no Wendy;
but my voice brings you back to me.
And you sit around my feet,
anxious for a story
or a kiss.
Listening to my words
spinning adventures,
like so much g.. more..
