Someday

Someday

A Poem by Emily B

I will no longer
beg
for scraps of affection
like a starving
bird.
I already
have
everything I need
inside me.

I don't need you
to make me whole.
I won't ask
for kind words
or fond
remembrances.
Someday,
when I'm far away
You'll miss me.

there are those people in the world who horde their affection like it has an end; never realizing that the more you give affection away, the more that moves in to bless your life. I've seen it most with children and parents who barely give them a glance; oh those hungry eyes for a soul so undernourished; not receiving the love it needs; the comfort and security. It makes me sad; and for that reason, this made me sad. A great write though - I did love that your MC here had enough and knew their worth was not wrapped up in what another was willing to give.

A bit of a rant, I see ... but done with dignity. So many rants take the voice of an angry child stamping a foot. But not this. This carries itself with a quiet dignity. "I've had enough! I'm not in a rage ... but I AM finished."

Very well done.

This has a truly stoic and resolute tone to it....
I believe we all crave...a read....some contact ...some reinforcement
I dare say we pout a bit sometimes....
Very much a mantra for us all now-n-again

well one Em
