Elusive as the DreamA Poem by Emily Bfor Dostani and The Broken PoetAm I real, today?
|
Three people from across the country had the same dream one dark and rainy night. It affected them so deeply that come morning they were still shaken and wondering. It was the same dream except for each person the big, scary monster was drawn from each person's deepest self doubt. The rain and the doubt didn't begin to lift until the words came.

When I read this, my first thoughts were of the French expression l'heure bleue (Blue hour) - which refers to the hour experienced between the hours of daylight and darkness. This period of the day is considered special, because of the quality of the light.
In the case of your beautifully poetic composition, I found this was because of the quality of the write, which made it special. God's Blessing Phillozofee Posted 16 Years Ago5 of 5 people found this review constructive. |

That opening line is awesome. I ask myself that question all the time, and have come to the almost certain conclusion that I am, in fact, a figment of someone else's imagination. A not so very clever someone, perhaps, but someone else all the same.
The rest of this is phenomenal--I am glad you sent the read request. I love the contrast between the dark images and the optimism they are being used to convey. Excellent job, Emily, as per usual. Posted 13 Years Ago1 of 1 people found this review constructive. |
a beautiful piece of work this...the constant struggle and the fear of the darkness within...lest it take a shape that's tangible and frighteningly real...sheer perfection!!!

Wonderful. "The rain was real..." is a line that is very striking, and really hits this all home and ties this poem together, like the dreams they are real...and then gone. This shared experience can be read and reread and seen in so many different way, it can only be seen as a moment of brilliance put to pen and paper. Thanks so much for sharing this.

this is brilliant!! you have such a way of getting your messages across, and have truly mastered free verse!! just great! I suppose we all have the same dreams in some respects, just blighted by different personal projections!
