A Poem by Emily B
"

written after a weekend at an 1805 Kentucky Camp Meeting

"

Like the ember
smouldering
unseen in the ashes,
my heart will someday
flame passionately.
One breath--
is all I need
to change this
seeming-charred soul
into a
furious
fire.

That's all it takes and sometime it can come from sources we least expect. One moment you're feeling down and the next completely rejuvenated and ready to conquer the world. I love the allusion of rising from your own ashes like a phoenix here.

One breath, yes definitely and I know it is in there. I like the title too, I expected something different but was totally delighted with this. I feel like this too sometimes, like I'm a tiger in the bushes just waiting for the right moment to pounce. That is what I took from this one. I've felt that way lately because so much is happening and I feel so helpless. Great writing Emily!

Indeed, one breath is all you need to change things around. A beautifully written poem; good work.

I love how you are able to capture so much in so few words. This left me feeling refreshen and hopeful. I could only imagine what wondrous being you will turn into as your creative flames are fanned and fed. You will glow with the force of a forest fire.

Great Job!!!!!!

I've always rather thought the metaphors between tending a fire and caring for love were quite strong in a peculiar sort of way. It probably doesn't help that I love camping. And fire. And love. But this piece is a great little read. The wait to live again.

Penned beautifully.
