A Poem by Emily B
"

written after a weekend at an 1805 Kentucky Camp Meeting

"

Like the ember
smouldering
unseen in the ashes,
my heart will someday
flame passionately.
One breath--
is all I need
to change this
seeming-charred soul
into a
furious
fire.

That's all it takes and sometime it can come from sources we least expect. One moment you're feeling down and the next completely rejuvenated and ready to conquer the world. I love the allusion of rising from your own ashes like a phoenix here.

love this. short and sweet and holds a promise of passion.

since i respect you, i have a few notes on this piece.

consider changing "seeming" to "seemingly"

and instead of "one breath" maybe something like "one confession" or "one whisper"

ok, nitpicking over. i love the simple and elegant use of metaphor here. you write with a simple grace that i envy.

Everyone knows the hottest fires are in the embers...especially in the long-burning fires.

Wow, there's such an energy inside this poem that you capture the idea of fire. Love the image of one breath stoking the fire, great

This is an accurate description of my Wife and I, when we found each other and our love, in the middle of our lives. Gracias.

Amazing image. Distilled down into just a few words, it to bursts into flames as the reader reads it. Simply brilliant. I love it.
