A Poem by Emily B
"

written after a weekend at an 1805 Kentucky Camp Meeting

"

Like the ember
smouldering
unseen in the ashes,
my heart will someday
flame passionately.
One breath--
is all I need
to change this
seeming-charred soul
into a
furious
fire.

That's all it takes and sometime it can come from sources we least expect. One moment you're feeling down and the next completely rejuvenated and ready to conquer the world. I love the allusion of rising from your own ashes like a phoenix here.

It takes so little to do so much...
So many emotion in such a short poem - i enjoyed it :)

Very beautiful words here. You always express yourself so wonderfully. Seeking desire and passion in life and never settling for the mundane.

Beautiful poem. I always like it when people connect their feelings with elements like fire, earth and so on. Just like blackbirdsong it does remind me of a phoenix. :)

Bam! Beautiful! The dichotomy of the breath the speaker needs is amazing. Whether it's inhaling that breath to charge the body, or if it's a breath being blown onto the embers that are at the seat of the soul, either one is welcome for they will both have the same effect.
